Microneedling with PRP — sometimes called the "vampire facial" — has become one of the most sought-after skin rejuvenation treatments in aesthetic medicine. But what exactly does it involve, who is it for, and what results can you realistically expect? Our specialists at Le Pearl explain everything.

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy) uses a device fitted with ultra-fine needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers the body's natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin — the proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful skin.

What Is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It's derived from your own blood. A small sample is drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components. This concentrated plasma is packed with growth factors that accelerate healing, stimulate collagen, and enhance skin rejuvenation.

How Do They Work Together?

When PRP is applied immediately after microneedling, the growth factors penetrate deep into the skin through the micro-channels, supercharging the healing and regeneration process. The combination delivers significantly better results than either treatment alone.

What Can Microneedling & PRP Treat?

  • Acne scars and post-acne marks
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin texture and tone
  • Stretch marks
  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Mild skin laxity

What to Expect During Treatment

A topical numbing cream is applied 30 minutes before the procedure. If PRP is being used, a small blood sample is drawn and processed. The microneedling device is then passed over the skin in multiple directions. PRP is applied simultaneously or immediately after. The entire session takes about 60–90 minutes.

Recovery and Results

Immediately after treatment, your skin will appear pink or red — similar to mild sunburn. This typically subsides within 24–48 hours. Results build progressively over the following weeks as new collagen is formed. Most clients see significant improvement after 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
